Teacher's Day Celebration 2020

Posted on 07/09/2020

Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5th September as a mark of respect, honour and gratitude for all the teachers who so immensely influence the lives of their students and shape their destiny. It is also the birth anniversary of one of the greatest and most respected teachers of the country, our former President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This year the staff and students of Govt. College for Girls, Nacholi, celebrated the Teachers’ Day in a very unique way. The boundaries drawn between the teachers and their students by the COVID-19 pandemic could not dampen the spirit behind the celebration of the day. Students of GCG Nacholi paid an online tribute to their Principal and teachers by participating in an online competition that included singing, poetry recitation, poster-making and write-ups. The participation was overwhelming and the official college social media platform was flooded with entries and tributes from students of all classes. Thanking the students for their love and overwhelming response, the Principal, Dr. Sunidhi, in a beautiful recorded message to the students, sent to all classes, exhorted all the students to make use of their classroom learning, imbibe every part of it and adapt to the changing times and circumstances. She asked them to always keep ignited their quest for learning. Quoting Benjamin Franklin, “ Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn”, she asked all the students to not just remember their lessons but to make it a habit to learn them well and put them to everyday use. Warmly welcoming all the students to the new academic session, she showered her love and blessings on one and all. Her message was simple, loud and clear: ‘Together we can and Together we will, learn and grow. Earlier, the teachers marked the celebrations in the college campus with a Tree Plantation drive. Led by the Principal, each of the staff member planted one sapling each. This was a symbolic gesture to sow the seeds (our students), nurture them and then cherish their growth. But, the most spectacular part of the day’s celebration was the rendition of the famous Golden oldie ‘Hum laye hain toofan se kashti nikal ke, iss desh ko rakhna mere bachchon sambhal ke’ by the Principal and the teachers for their students. The song was sung with much warmth and genuine emotions, recorded, and then sent to all the classes as a strong message to the students to keep working hard and contribute to the growth of this great nation.
