Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell

Introduction:

The Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDG) Cell has been established in the college to ensure equity, inclusion, and empowerment of students belonging to economically and socially weaker sections of society. The cell works to create an environment that promotes equal opportunities and provides necessary support to overcome academic, financial, and social challenges.

Objectives:

  • To identify students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and provide them necessary support.

  • To ensure the implementation of government policies and institutional schemes for the upliftment of disadvantaged groups.

  • To organize awareness and sensitization programs on issues related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

  • To facilitate access to scholarships, financial aid, and remedial coaching.

  • To create an inclusive campus environment free from discrimination and bias.

Functions:

  • Maintain data and records of students belonging to SEDG categories.

  • Coordinate with various government and non-government agencies for scholarships and welfare schemes.

  • Conduct workshops, counseling sessions, and mentoring programs.

  • Address grievances related to social or economic discrimination.

  • Promote participation of SEDG students in academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities.

Activities:
The cell regularly conducts orientation programs, awareness drives, and guidance sessions regarding available welfare schemes and financial assistance. Special academic support and motivational talks are organized to encourage students to achieve academic excellence and personal growth.
